About C. Malcolm Smith, III
C. Malcolm Smith III graduated from Pennsylvania State University in
1977 and became a certified public accountant in 1983. Mr. Smith is a
general practitioner in all areas of public accounting which include
financial statements, tax preparation, tax consulting, management
services, consulting and accounting. In addition, as a Certified
Information Technology Professional (CITP), specializing in providing
computer services to clients, Mr. Smith combines his accounting and
computer experience to provide advice that will assist clients to run
their business and personal finances in the best means possible. His
computer services include selecting computer hardware and software,
installing computer systems and providing training and support. Mr.
Smith is a member of the American and Pennsylvania Institutes of
Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Society of Public Accountants
and other professional and civic organizations.

Firm History
The firm was founded in the borough of West
Reading , PA in 1935 by Mr. George B. Bach. After years of practice as a
sole-proprietor, a partnership was formed with his son, George R. Bach,
and the firm was known as Bach and Son, and was located at 436 Penn
Avenue, West Reading , Pennsylvania .
The firm moved to 630 Penn Avenue, West Reading , PA in 1950. In 1953,
Mr. C. Malcolm Smith, Jr., CPA was admitted to the firm as a partner.
The firm's name was changed to Bach, Smith & Bach. In June of 1956,
Mr. George R. Bach withdrew as an accounting partner to become an
ordained minister. On May 10, 1957 Mr. George B. Bach passed away
suddenly, leaving a saddened staff and family.
The firm continued under the direction of Mr. C. Malcolm Smith, Jr.,
CPA until July 1, 1965 when a new partnership was formed with Mr. Edward
W. Hartman, CPA under the present firm name of C. Malcolm Smith &
Company. The firm moved to 720 Centre Avenue , Reading , PA on May 1,
1967 to obtain larger quarters.
Mr. C. Malcolm Smith, III joined the firm in 1977 after graduating
from Pennsylvania State University and became a partner of the firm in
1985. In 1989, the firm employed five partners and twenty staff members.
In 1990, C. Malcolm Smith & Company merged with Kuntz, Lesher,
Siegrist & Martini with offices in Lancaster and Wyomissing , PA
with a total of 135 employees. In 1990, Mr. C. Malcolm Smith, III became
partner in charge of Computer Services in the Wyomissing Office. Mr. C.
Malcolm Smith, Jr., CPA retired in 1992.
Mr. C. Malcolm Smith, III, CPA joined the firm of Kurtz McNaney &
Company in 1994 as Director of Computer Consulting Services.
In January of 1998, Mr. C. Malcolm Smith, III, CPA reopened the firm
C. Malcolm Smith & Company at 1258 Penn Avenue, Wyomissing, PA with a
trained staff ready to serve the needs of our clients.
CITP Announcement
Mr. C. Malcolm Smith has obtained the certification of
Certified Information Technology Professional ("CITP") from the American
Institute of CPA's. With his business experience as a CPA and
technology background as a CITP, Mr. Smith establishes trust between his
clients' operational managers and the IT department to achieve both
teams' objectives by utilizing technology to help increase profits and
